I have accepted an invitation from the leaders of the Africa Inland Church in South Sudan (AIC-SS) to lead a Church Workers’ Conference from Monday 7 – Friday 11 September 2026. Unfortunately, due to ongoing insecurity issues in South Sudan itself, it will not be possible for the conference to meet in the capital, Juba, and so it will be held in Adjumani, in the north of neighbouring Uganda, not far from the border with South Sudan and about 200 miles from Juba itself.
The plan is to bring 50 delegates together for days of ministry, training and fellowship, and they will come both from South Sudan itself and also from Uganda, where there are numerous congregations of South Sudanese believers. These churches and Christians struggle financially, many of them, as I describe it, living on ‘fresh air’, and so I have pledged to raise the necessary finances so that the conference can go ahead.
The budget is £6,000, which covers accommodation and food etc for 50 delegates, in addition to my own travel costs. So, for just £120, a church leader will benefit from, what is for them, a rare privilege, five days of ministry.
Bishop John Kongi, one of the AIC-SS leaders says
“We are preparing for the upcoming Church Workers’ Conference in Adjumani, Northern Uganda, a vital gathering to equip and strengthen those who serve faithfully in our churches. Many of these workers minister tirelessly with very limited resources, and they cannot afford to cover the costs of such training themselves. Your support will help provide teaching, encouragement, and practical tools that will empower them to continue serving vulnerable communities with renewed strength and vision. By contributing, you are investing directly in the growth and health of South Sudanese churches in South Sudan and Uganda. We humbly ask you to prayerfully consider giving towards this cause. Together, we can ensure that our brothers and sisters are equipped for the great work God has entrusted to them.“
