The online Bible teaching ministry of John Brand

Route66 Ministries is the online Bible teaching ministry of John Brand

John was born to missionary parents in India and trusted Christ for salvation while at boarding school there at the age of 11.  He later trained at the Bible Training Institute in Glasgow, and then, for 12 years, pastored two Independent Evangelical churches, one in the inner city of London and then one in Liverpool, during some of which time he also served on the UK Council of Africa Inland Mission International (AIM). In 1993 he took on the role of AIM’s Director for Scotland, becoming Director for UK and Europe in 1999. During his 8 years in this position he exercised a Bible teaching ministry throughout UK and Europe and made regular visits to many of AIM’s fields of service in Africa where he was involved in ministering to missionaries and nationals.

In 2007, John was appointed Vice-Principal of Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh, becoming Principal in 2009, a position he held until 2012 when he left to spearhead the establishment of Edinburgh Bible College which he continues to serve as Director of Training / Principal. John also served for 9 years as Pastor of Grace Community Church in Broxburn, West Lothian, which he was instrumental in planting.

At the beginning of 2023, John began a transition in ministry – whatever you do, don’t mention the word retirement! At the end of July he stood down from his ministry at Grace CC, to focus on his work with Edinburgh Bible College, continue to mentor and train preachers and other Christian workers exercise and serve Christ’s Church through an itinerant ministry. John is available for ministry in local churches and can be contacted through the Contact page of this website.

Married to Caroline and with two grown up sons and two grand-daughters, John contributes book reviews and articles to Christian publications, and is author of three books – A Concise Chronology of the Bible, The Bible as it Happened and Mission Matters, the latter of which has also been published in Romanian.

As well as regularly posting on this site, John posts weekly encouragements for preachers at Barnabas Files and does a daily teaching and devotional video at Ten Minutes In The Word.
