
Last week was, without a doubt, a dark week for the UK with the Westminster government passing two significant pieces of legislation that reveal just how far as a nation we have departed from God. As more than one commentator has said, these developments demonstrate the fact God has given us up to the sinful desires of our hearts.
I was also reminded from Scripture, that we can’t simply point the finger at the legislators, but have to accept our own responsibility for our nation’s spiritual decline, as in Daniel 9:5-7 –
“…we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. We have not listened to your servants the prophets who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame“
