Some time ago I posted this open letter which has just been published by Evangelicals Now
I was so encouraged to receive the following comment from a dear brother who has spent a lifetime of service in the ministry. He wrote: “This is just a note to say how much I agree with your open letter in EN this month. It does seem that too many young men enter ministry without a realisation of what you’ve called the real world. If they aren’t willing to commit to preaching twice a Sunday + midweek, why are they entering into ministry at all?! Surely a prerequisite for ministry is that a man should have a compulsion to preach the word on every possible occasion (Jer.20:9) and a desire to build up the flock thereby. I don’t know where this go-easy-on-myself attitude comes from!”
